For a thought provoking evening exploring the lives of people who hang out on the corner of 125th Street and Lexington Avenue in Harlem through heavily stylized, slow-motion cinematography and non-synchronized audio, attend the film viewing of Field Niggas by Khalik Allah, a title taken from Malcolm X’s Message to the Grass Roots speech, in which he addresses the dangerous wedge between “house slaves” and “field slaves.”
Presented by Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, there will also be a an opening reception at Heron Arts from 6-9pm with new photographs, jazz music, refreshments, as well as the artist himself.
