Event Details

Lake Merced Boat Dock Ribbon Cutting Ceremony November 13th!

We are happy to announce that construction for the Lake Merced Boat Dock is complete, and the site is open to the public. Construction fencing was removed on 9/16/21 and the new dock, boat ramp, seating area, and ADA parking stall are ready for use! A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 13th at 11:30am.

The project scope was to remove the existing gangway and freeboard wooden dock that extends approximately 130 feet into Lake Merced and to replace these facilities with an updated gangway and (slightly larger) dock that complies with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. The existing 30 foot gangway exceeded the accessible slope making it hazardous for seniors and users with disabilities.

The new 80 foot gangway and 140 foot dock allows for safe access to docked boats on either side of the new dock. Additional work included site and landscape work and the Installation of a new accessible parking stall and concrete path leading to the new dock, installation of one new light pole, and Installation of a new asphalt driveway.
