Activate McCoppin: Month-Long Block Party | SF

During the month of November 2013, Activate McCoppin is temporarily transforming the McCoppin Hub, at the intersection of Valencia and McCoppin Streets from a parking lot into a community hub.

McCoppin Hub is hosting a variety of events and art installations in an effort to offer opportunities for communities to come together, connect, share, collaborate, and have fun. This project will help determine what programming works in the McCoppin Hub prior to the improvement project slated to begin in 2014.

Want to host your own event? Come teach a class on basket weaving, play some bluegrass, or host a panel discussion. The possibilities are endless.

Launch | Activate McCoppin: Month-Long Block Party | SF

Activate McCoppin launches with a party featuring music, art installations, games and activities on November 1, 2013.

At 4 pm, take a sneak peek of new interactive art installation, created with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and slated to appear at Burning Man 2014, The Mechanical Nun.

At 6 pm, debaucherous SF surf rock band Hopi Astronaut will play two live sets.

From 6:30-8 pm, you can chat, dance, play games and figure out what to do with this awesome space.

There will also be a presentation on Activate McCoppin that explains the rationale for the project, what they’re looking to accomplish, and how to get involved.
