Event Details

Hollywood insider and author Boze Hadleigh talks about his new book, Marilyn Forever. He discusses Marilyn Monroe’s five-year relationship with lesbian drama coach Natasha Lytess, which Marilyn gave up when the publicity pressures of superstardom made it necessary in that awful decade of super-conformity and witch-hunting.

She was quite brave to date, then marry, a Jewish left-winger subpoenaed by the Republican Congress’s anti- democracy HUAC. People often forget Marilyn was quite vulnerable then and had many detractors–she was even ridiculed for wanting to be a mother, let alone studying acting in NYC. She wasn’t the goddess of today whose image we see everywhere from Cork, Ireland, to Istanbul and Mexico City, etc.
