Every year ABCT (A Better Chinatown Tomorrow) celebrates Dragon Boat /Zhongzi ) Festival to kick-off their summer program with weekly lion dancing and on-going music.

  • 11:30 am –  Joong / Rice Tamale Making Demo – Portsmouth Square granny dancers will demonstrate how to make sweet rice tamales, (zhongzi or joong) in Cantonese in front of Grant Place Restaurant. 778 Washington Street.
  • Noon – Special dim sum / joong buffet luncheon of assortments dim sum and joong will be served. Suggested donation for luncheon $20.
  • 1:00  pm Lion and Dragon Dancers – will march from the Gate on Bush and Grant to Portsmouth Square to start and join musicians playing Chinese Folk Music at Portsmouth Square.

Pre-kickoff: Friday 5:30 pm, June 15th, TGIF to start weekly traditional music at the “Language of Birds” Plaza in front of New Sun HK Restaurant on Broadway and columbus.
