A book release party for Carl Hayes’ new book, “Loaded Stories: Memories and Tales of Fathers, 1970s California, and Other Complications” on Wednesday, June 12 at The Peacock Lounge in Lower Haight, SF. There will be a limited number of print books available at the event.

It’s a good thing children are resilient. San Francisco author Carl Hayes tours his California childhood and attempts to understand the secret histories of his two fathers, the first murdered while hitchhiking, the second a hard-partying outlaw immersed in the general mayhem of post-Manson Family L.A. Lurching from psychedelic nightmare to “Partridge Family” harmonies, a unique and compelling family history of the ’70s—and beyond—is laid bare in Loaded Stories.
