Charged Particles features the Bay Area’s favorite Afro-Latin jazz keyboardist Murray Low, along with the inventive acoustic and electric bassist Aaron German, and fiery drummer Jon Krosnick (who performed recently with Chick Corea).

Their blend of funky Afro-Latin jazz includes original compositions by the band members and their friends, as well as fresh interpretations of rarely-heard tunes by contemporaries such as Lyle Mays and Cedar Walton. The band made its debut on National Public Radio’s live performance program “Detroit Jazz Alive”, originating in Detroit, Michigan, and has performed in hundreds of venues around the world since then, including its most recent international tour in Sweden.

Recently, the group has been performing with Grammy-winning and world-renowned reed player Paul McCandless, touring the U.S. and abroad. The band’s appearance in the First Friday series will be a special treat for listeners to experience their core repertoire.
