Event Details

Create, Schmooze, Nosh, and Dreidel in celebration of the second night of Hanukkah

See artisanal chocolate-making demonstrations by Sweet Earth Chocolates, sample Fair Trade Hanukkah gelt, design your own mini-tote to carry your Hanukkah gear, but more importantly, compete against Major League Dreidel’s “Spinagogue” 2009 National Champion Johnny Hei’z.

Jews and gentiles welcome … And as Major League Dreidel says “No Gelt, No Glory!”

About Major League Dreidel Champion Johnny Hei-z:
John Heywood (spinning name: Johnny Hei-z) is a 27 year old Bay Area native who won the title in Brooklyn last year as a rookie spinner. He lives in the Mission here in the City and works in digital marketing for Red Bricks Media.

Despite the obvious disadvantage of not being Jewish, Heywood eked out victory with an impressive 16 second spin, beating out 120 competitors in a grueling contest at Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory. The competition is based on how long spinners can keep their dreidel spinning.
