2020 MLK Day Richmond is a day of service, community, gardening and celebration of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Join the Richmond Greenway, and celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service with friends, family and neighbors. Be a part of this annual festive and inspirational event.
From 9 am – noon, Volunteer projects at the sites near Unity Park on the Richmond Greenway (at the intersection of 16th St and Ohio Ave), including weeding and trash removal. Gloves, tools, and water will be provided, but if you can bring your own, there will have more to share.
Please bring your own reusable water bottle if possible. Wear sturdy closed-toed shoes and clothes that can get dirty. Parking near the park is limited: it is recommended to park on 20th St. near the Greenway and walking to Unity Park.
Space is limited; groups must preregister. To participate, all participants must sign a waiver.
- Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult and those under 18 require a waiver signed by a legal guardian.
- Valid for Community Service hours.
- Heavy rain cancels, but we will be out there in the sun, fog, and light drizzle. If it is rainy, it is a great opportunity to see the low impact design (bioswales and rain gardens) in action.
