The King of the County BBQ Competition & Music Festival is excited to expand our 15th festival to 3 days on the June 16-18 Father’s Day Weekend in beautiful Waterfront Park in historic Downtown Martinez by the California Delta.
We have added Friday (5-9pm) for a 3rd day in addition to Saturday (11am-8pm) and Father’s Day Sunday (11am-6pm).
This popular FREE community event offers fun for the entire family. King of the County draws 10,000+ attendees from all over the Diablo Valley, East Bay, Solano County and San Francisco Bay Area to enjoy BBQ, live music from top local bands, arts and crafts booths and commercial exhibitors, more eclectic food vendors, beer, wine and other special attractions. The King of the County introduces carnival rides this year to ensure family fun for everyone.
The festival also features a fierce and fiery competition between Backyard Barbecue Teams who compete for cash and prizes on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday, June 17th and Sunday June 18, 2023 – Backyard Barbecue Teams from near and far will compete for the coveted title of King of the County.
Awards include cash prizes, trophies, swag, bragging rights, and this year we are excited to also offer Hotel Savings Cards up to $500.00 for our winners.
Our competition draws between 30-40 local Backyard Barbecue Teams over the 2-day competition. Many of our competitors are local family teams that return every year in hopes of defending the title or dethroning previous victors and royals.
Our judges conduct a blind tasting with numbered boxes and are supervised by two Event Committee Chairs and designated table monitors.
