Misner & Smith
Celebrating the release of their new album, the unclassifiable duo Misner & Smith bring their full band to San Francisco for a very special show. The band had been sitting with iterations of their new record for six years, and with All is Song they turn in their finest work to date. It’s an album of inspired declarations to the power of music, song, and collaboration, and they will be playing it in it’s entirety in their return to the Lost Church. Technically precise songwriting mirrored with an improvisatory spirit and soaring harmonies have made the band—consisting of Sam Misner and Megan Smith—one of the most acclaimed acts in the Americana world. Blending elements of that genre with rock and roll, traditional folk ballads, and more pop-leaning ideas, Misner & Smith makes music gloriously nonconforming, and they treasure the unpredictability of their band. Teaming up with the duo on both the new album and for this show will be two of the musicians whose contributions were foundational to the new record. Co-producer, and multi-instrumentalist Bruce Kaphan (American Music Club, David Byrne, The Black Crowes) will be featured on pedal steel guitar, keyboards, and electric guitar. Oakland-based drummer and multi-instrumentalist Dillon Vado will be featured on drums.
