Mountain Lake Science Saturdays | Presidio

Mountain Lake Science Saturdays is a lively series of talks by scientists studying topics relating to the San Francisco natural wonder, Mountain Lake, and its ecological restoration.

On the second Saturday from May to October, gather at the lake to hear researchers from a variety of disciplines talk on topics ranging from Archaeology to Zooplankton. Here’s your chance to ask the experts your questions about the science being done to save this lake.

How to get there: Enter the Presidio on Park Presidio heading north and go just past Mountain Lake.

Join Presidio Trust Archaeologist Kari Jones to learn about the ongoing research into the cultural and natural history of Mountain Lake.

Kari will discuss core samples taken from the bottom of the lake, and what they can tell us about the formation of the lake and its prehistoric environment. By presenting geological, limnological, archaeological and historical data, she will summarize what is currently known about the lake and discuss questions that remain unanswered.

Kari Jones is an archaeologist with the Presidio Trust and has worked on the planning of the Mountain Lake Enhancement and Remediation Projects since 2009.
