Mountain Lake Science Saturdays | Presidio

Mountain Lake Science Saturdays is a lively series of talks by scientists studying topics relating to the San Francisco natural wonder, Mountain Lake, and its ecological restoration.

On the second Saturday from May to October, gather at the lake to hear researchers from a variety of disciplines talk on topics ranging from Archaeology to Zooplankton. Here’s your chance to ask the experts your questions about the science being done to save this lake.

How to get there: Enter the Presidio on Park Presidio heading north and go just past Mountain Lake.

Western Pond Turtle | Mountain Lake Science Saturdays | Presidio

On September 7, 2013, Jessie Bushell from the San Francisco Zoo will introduce visitors to the shy and fascinating western pond turtle.Come meet a turtle and learn about California’s only native freshwater aquatic turtle, the challenges that they are currently facing in California and throughout the western U.S., and how the Mountain Lake remediation project will help with conserving this special species.
