Event Details

Enjoy a presentation about grizzly bears and Yellowstone National Park. This celebration of the Yellowstone ecosystem will inspire those who already know Yellowstone to return to this rugged and majestic region, and will motivate others to discover the raw power of one of North America’s wildest landscapes.

Michael Leach will focus on the importance of keystone species, such as grizzlies and wolves, while sharing information about the area’s biogeography, the plight of the Yellowstone bison, and Yellowstone’s hope for the future. He will also describe how his organization, Yellowstone Country Guardians, works to advocate for this important landscape.

Michael Leach, executive director and founder of Yellowstone Country Guardians, has worked as a naturalist and fly-fishing guide. His time as a ranger naturalist and as the Bear Education Ranger in Yellowstone National Park led him to start the Yellowstone-based nonprofit organization. Through youth-driven education and outreach programs, Yellowstone Country Guardians fosters a commitment from local communities to ensure that the Yellowstone region remains a symbol of wildness. Michael is also a nature writer whose essays, opinion pieces, and natural history articles have appeared in many publications.
