Near-Death Experience Story Night | SF
The International Association for Near-Death Studies-SF presents a free monthly lecture by different speakers, each of whom has had a near-death experience.
The purpose of the meetings is to inform the public about these experiences and to provide a comfortable, informal gathering place for people who’ve had them or who are interested in them and their implications for the study of human consciousness.
Although the meeting location is the Golden Gate Spiritualist Church, a historical mansion which now functions as a spiritualist church, IANDS-SF has no religious or political affiliations and rejects any form of dogma about the nature of near-death experiences.
In March, the featured speaker will be Ray Kinman, painter, musician and former (for 23 years) master and lead Disney wood carver. Ray had a near-death experience as a 9-year-old when a friend demonstrated his newly acquired judo skils on Ray. He suffered a terrible head injury and had a profound near-death experience.
When he recovered, he told his mother, who sent him to discuss it with a priest. The priest told him that since he didn’t see Jesus, it was probably a trick of the devil. Ray spent decades struggling to understand his experience until he discovered that others had had them too. Now he’s speaking at all of the four Bay Area IANDS (Berkeley, Marin, South Bay and San Francisco) about his struggle.
