Nest of Tongues: A YA Filipino Book Launch with Randy Ribay (Oakland)

Teenaged Filipino vampires in San Jose and the slayer that’s trying to kill them—join us for a conversation and book signing with National Book Award finalist and New York Times bestselling author Randy Ribay about his newest YA novel, “Nest of Tongues.” This entertaining page-turner about Filipino American teenage siblings/manananggals being hunted by a legendary Filipino monster slayer questions the role of myth in the context of politics and history. This event will begin with a preview of filmmaker “Ara Chawdhury’s Marichin Marukoy: Mangayo Ko’g Asin/Can I Ask For Salt,” a stop-motion animated series about a baby shapeshifter, born into a world shaped by ancient Visayan animism. Light refreshments will be served.
