Event Details

The new Netflix series “Sense8” is filming on location in The Castro.

It’s a brand new sci-fi show from The Matrix directors Andy and Lana Wachowski and J. Michael Straczynski (the creator of Babylon 5). Streaming of the 10-episode season should begin in late 2014.

Be aware that film shoots can often be super boring and take forever to set up and schedules can change. But if you’re patient and polite, you might be able to catch a glimpse of SF on film months before anyone else sees it.

The location film crew for a new Netflix series “Sense8” will be at work in The Castro area as follows:

Monday, June 23 | 7 to 9 pm
Adjacent to The Café at 2369 Market (between Castro-Noe). There will be relatively brief periods of “intermittent traffic control” for a few minutes at a time during the day, while a “chase” scene is being filmed.

Saturday, June 28 | 7 am to 9 pm (Pink Saturday)
Out of The Castro’s immediate area, but nearby to the east, on 18th Street (both sides, between Linda and Valencia Streets)

About Sense8: “Sense8” is a Netflix series that is a gripping global tale of minds linked and souls hunted. The series marks the first foray into television by the Wachowskis, the creative geniuses behind “Bound,” “The Matrix,” “The Matrix Reloaded,” “The Matrix Revolutions,” “V for Vendetta,” “Speed Racer” and “Cloud Atlas,” and is the latest project from veteran show runner J. Michael Straczynski , creator of the Hugo Award-winning “Babylon 5” TV series and whose film credits include “Changeling,” and “Thor.”
