First Amendment Gallery and Nighted are pleased to announce “Last Night,” a new collaborative zine and exhibition featuring submissions from over 40 photographers. The exhibition focuses on the creative brink that graffiti writers find themselves in the thralls of, rather than the finished work.

Using 35mm film cameras to capture graffiti in action, audiences are reminded that expression can be a fleeting moment or a process-driven endeavor that should be praised just as much as its final form will be. Bringing that process to the forefront in this collection, 1AM and Nighted aimed to highlight how community vibrantly shapes (and paints) the streets. With submissions from around the globe in both color and black & white, “Last Night” sheds stray light on the mysteries of the lifestyle graffiti demands.

Nighted (est. 2012) is a Bay Area based film photography collective and publishing house. Their photographs and printed releases focus on “the things that happen when the world’s not watching.”

First Amendment Gallery invites you to join us for the opening reception of “Last Night” on Saturday, October 12th from 12-6 pm at 1000 Howard St. San Francisco. The reception will also feature zines from Bay Area publishers including Endless Canvas, Illetante, San Francisco Photo Club, Sledgehammer Press, and YS-800 Collective.
