2013 NIMBY Art Space Thanksgiving Potluck | Oakland

NIMBY, the huge industrial art workspace in Oakland, will once again host a Thanksgiving potluck on Thursday, November 28, 2013.

This is an all day event and they’ll start cooking around 10:30 am. They generally eat between 4-7 pm and depending on participation sometimes again around 11 pm. This casual event is open to anyone that needs a place to be on Turkeyday and there’s usually live music, good food, and friendly people.

They provide the turkey, so make your favorite side dish, or bring some money to help cover costs and come on over.

The NIMBY space gets cold, so dress warmly.

IMPORTANT: Funcheap Kindness: Don’t just show up and be a freeloader; that’s just rude. And don’t just bring something you picked up last minute at Safeway.

Be a good guest and bring something thoughtful to share like a homemade veggie side or a great bottle of wine or bring a few bucks to donate. Come prepared to meet new people, introduce yourself and make new friends.

And if you want to really impress, make sure you volunteer to help set up or clean up – this event is a community effort that takes a lot of work to put together. It’s not a soup kitchen for you to just dine and dash. If you come, be prepared to join in the community and pitch in. You just may be rewarded with a wonderful evening and a new set of friends.
