Event Details

Art magazine Juxtapoz presents the San Francisco premiere of Cidade Cinza / Grey City, a documentary about a new wave of Brazilian graffiti, featuring music by Criolo and Daniel Ganjaman.

Free, but an RSVP is recommended. Entry is subject to capacity; guests who have RSVPed will receive a wristband that grants priority entrance once capacity is reached.

On the streets of São Paulo, Brazil a new form of graffiti art was born. Like wildfire, the exceptional works of artists like Os Gêmeos, Nunca, Nina Ise, Fink and Zefix spread through the streets of the city, and then unsurprisingly to art galleries and museums around the world. But when a new law against “visual pollution” threatens to cover up and destroy their huge breathtaking works on city walls, the artists unleash a graffiti art war against the local government, giving birth to one of the most creative resistance movements in Latin American art.
