Event Details

Imagine the poetry of John Ashbery through the lens of Willem and Elaine de Kooning. Or Jasper Johns in conversation with Wallace Stevens. Consider Robert Motherwell interpreting Joyce’s Ulysses or Kara Walker creating her first lithographs in response to Porgy and Bess.

This is not a dream. These visionary collaborations happened between the covers of the unique artist books printed by Arion Press in San Francisco.

Arion Press is delighted to announce a new exhibition showcasing the finest examples of our collaborations with major artists over the past 4 decades. Much of this artwork has never before been available for public viewing. UNCOVERED: The Artists of Arion Press opens on October 2nd at the Arion gallery in the Presidio and will remain on view until November 5th, 2021.

The exhibition is presented by Arion’s curator in residence, Tamsin Smith.
