Original Famous Twang Sundays is a free, all-ages concert series at Thee Parkside in Potrero Hill.

Come by every Sunday; there’s always a fresh traditional or contemporary live act and a surprise special to purchase from the kitchen.

Sunday, September 21, 2014, Original Famous Twang Sundays welcomes Pork Chop Express and The Lucky Rubes to Thee Parkside.

Pork Chop Express is a San Francisco Bay Area alt country band that has been playing together since 2002. They take the gristly scraps from the American traditions of folk, outlaw country, and rock ‘n roll, push it through a meat grinder, give it a crash course in honky tonk and put it on stage for all to enjoy. Their sound is made up of country vocal harmonies; soaring fiddle work; a punk inspired rhythm section; noisy, garage-rock guitars and a ukulele for that extra dash of machismo. The end result has been called “country music for folks who don’t like country music.”

Since the summer of 2001, Eric Friedmann and The Lucky Rubes have brought their smoky take on vocal-based Telecaster-ish rock to venues up and down California and in the UK as well. A multi-instrumentalist and accomplished producer, Eric has been a fixture in the Bay Area music community since the mid-eighties and has played in countless bands on various instruments up and down the West Coast, the Midwest, and in Europe. In 1992, he founded Solana Records, and has recorded and released albums by some of the Bay Area’s most exciting talent. He is also the proprietor of The Sandbox, a small recording studio in the Sunset District of San Francisco where the big stars come to record when they’re sick of Hyde Street. 2013 sees The Lucky Rubes back after a break with an exciting all-new lineup: Erico on guitar and vocals, Steven Tough on guitar, Wade Larsen on keys, Kitt Thompson on bass, and Adam White on drums.
