Event Details

Given the state of the union, the Uptown Oakland arts community has united to politically energize people who want to help make change happen.

Paint Congress Blue Art + Action Festival
Sunday, August 5, 2018 | 3-7 pm
Mercury 20 475 25th St. Oakland CA
FREE – RSVP

People who come to the festival will be connected with clear and specific actions and the joyful knowledge that there is a community of action to join. Enthusiastic representatives from local activist organizations including Swing Left East Bay, Working America, Flip the 14, Sister District Project CA 13, Open Progress and Indivisible East Bay + Berkeley will be there with info and hands-on opportunities including postcard writing, phone banking, text banking, district canvassing and more. Voter registration will be available on-site.

Art galleries that populate this key Oakland Arts District street including Mercury 20, Manna, Roscoe, Slate, Local Language and 4th Wall will be open and exhibiting art and performances with political and social focus. There will be a silent art auction with activist art from Johanna Poethig, Farley Gwazda, Julianne Wallace Sterling and many more.

The stage, MC’d by hilarious monologist Josh Kornbluth, will feature Bandaloop, Johnny Harper Carnival Quartet and Youth Speaks performing short sets with more acts to be announced. Central Valley House candidates, activists and youth groups will also speak, bringing their messages of inspiration and personal resistance. There will be bubbles and games for kids as well.

Come to the Paint Congress Blue Art + Action Festival. Be entertained. Be energized. Help them win back the House this November.
