Paint-By-Numbers Interactive Underground Art Show | Oakland

The second annual “By the Numbers II” is a paint-by-numbers style show that immerses the audience in the creative process on February 7, 2014.

Each exhibiting artist will present a large-scale drawing on panel. It will be up to the audience to fill in the colors of each piece. Art supplies will be provided at the gallery and all ages are welcome. The results of the experiment will be on view at Loakal through the end of the month.

“By the Numbers II” will feature the work of Nite Owl, Lisa Pisa, Reggie Warlock, Egads, Maska, Chris Micro and Chris Granillo — artists at the center of the East Bay’s underground art scene.

The show is co-curated by Bay Area graffiti artist Nite Owl, one of the most prolific street artists based in Oakland. His iconic owl character can be seen in posters, murals and stickers across the Bay Area. Inspired by cartoons and the Super Flat movement alike, Nite Owl’s vibrant work pays homage to graffiti, filtering elements of street culture through his color-saturated lens.
