PATO BANTON
Pato Banton (born Patrick Murray, 28 January 1961) is a reggae singer and toaster from Birmingham, England. He received the nickname ‘Pato’ (Jamaican Patois for “wise owl”) from his stepfather, and ‘Banton’ from the disc jockey slang for a “heavyweight DJ”. First known for his collaborations with the English Beat, UB40, and Sting, Pato is now known best for his multi generational live shows, where crowds chant the choruses “Go Pato!” and “Stay Positive!” to two of his most famous songs with the same name as the choruses, respectfully.
