Here’s a great free weekend hike idea from SFGATE’s Eric Brooks.
All hikes are great — but hidden hikes are even better.
You can find one along a dirt path behind a hardware store in foggy Pacifica, just south of San Francisco. This hike with unrivaled views can be found in the Pedro Point Headlands, starting just beyond Pacifica State Beach next to Ace Hardware on San Pedro Avenue. It’s a peaceful and serene hike, too
For more details on this hike including photos, avoiding “Devil’s Slide” and a nearby brewpub for after hike drinks, check out the article Pedro Point in Pacifica is a Bay Area hike tucked behind a hardware store from SFGATE
You won’t run into many other people. In fact, I saw more banana slugs than hikers on a recent weekday.
The 246-acre open space at the southern end of Pacifica is dog friendly and features hiking trails through a number of marvelous scenes, like a eucalyptus forest, a coastal prairie and steep oceanside bluffs.
