Event Details

“Alcatraz is not an island, it’s an idea. It’s the idea that you can recapture and be in control of your life and your destiny, and self-determine your future.” –Richard Oakes

Sacheen Littlefeather and Eloy Martinez will take you inside the 1969-71 Occupation of Alcatraz with personal stories from their involvement in this chapter of the American Indian Civil Rights movement. Discover what they learned about themselves and their community through ceaseless dedication to the ideas of self-determination and an inter-tribal community.

Free but an RSVP is required.
