PIER 39’s Free Tree Lighting Show w/ 60′ Tall Tree (2024-25)
The Holidays are HapPIER at PIER 39! Get into the spirit of the Season at PIER 39 while shopping, dining and strolling The PIER.
An awe-inspiring Christmas tree has welcomed millions of visitors at the Entrance Plaza of PIER 39 every Holiday season since 1983 (except 2020), becoming a not-to-be-missed San Francisco Holiday tradition.
Come enjoy our enjoy our 60′ live Christmas Tree that “comes to life” and performs nightly every half hour from 5 – 10pm now through January 5, 2025.
Synchronized and choreographed to festive Holiday music, the tree “performs” every half hour from 5-10pm, becoming a kaleidoscope of swirling colors and songs, adorned with thousands of glittering specialty lights and ornaments. At the end of each performance the tree magically returns to a static, elegant, traditional Christmas tree.
About the PIER 39 Christmas Tree for 2024/25
- Harvested from Carlton Christmas Tree Farm in Burney, California
- 50 year old White Fir
- It is 60 feet tall and over 11,000 pounds
- Over 15,000 energy-efficient LED lights and 500 ornaments adorn the tree
- It takes the PIER 39 Environmental Services Team over 3 weeks to decorate the tree
- It is put into place with a crane (see photos below!)
- Get flat-rate $10 parking for up to five hours (nightly from 5-10p) if you reserve in advance.

How to Get $10 Flat Fee Parking at PIER 39 (for up to 5 Hours)
From now through January 5, 2025, take advantage of our special Holiday parking rate of a $10 flat fee daily from 5-10pm so you can come to PIER 39 for Holiday shopping, dining and to see our 60′ live Christmas Tree “come to life” and perform nightly, every half-hour from 5-10pm!
Reservations must be made in advance, cannot be combined with any other parking offers.
One-Hour Free Parking Validation (Dining Discount)
Visitors who dine at participating full-service restaurants at PIER 39 can receive one hour of free validated parking in the PIER 39 Garage. Participating restaurants include: Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Crab House, Eagle Cafe, Fog Harbor Fish House, Hard Rock Cafe, Luau Lounge Tiki Bar, Pier Market Seafood Restaurant, Players Sports Grill & Arcade, Swiss Louis Italian & Seafood Restaurant, Taco Cantina and Wipeout Bar & Grill.

If you’re already in San Francisco, hop on MUNI’s historic F-Line trolley cars or the 8-Bayshore, 30-Stockton, 39-Coit, 47-Van Ness (temporarily suspended) or 49-Van Ness/Mission buses.
