Event Details

Join San Francisco Public Works for a day of greening and neighborhood pride in District 5 (Western Addition, Tenderloin, Haight, Panhandle, and more).

Our goal is to plant 100 trees in 1 day and we need your help! Volunteers will be assigned to 13 teams and plant street trees in District 5. This event is rain-or-shine.

Trees help reduce storm-water runoff, clean the air and provide habitat for birds and butterflies. Plus bring lots of beauty and shade to our urban streetscape among many other benefits! 50 trees will be planted in the Tenderloin which has one of the smallest tree canopies in San Francisco, and the other 50 trees will be planted throughout District 5. Some of the tree species that we will plant on March 9 include: Lophostemon confertus, Lyonothamnus floribundus asplenifolius, and Magnolia grandiflora ‘Little Gem.’
