Juan Felipe Herrera is the first Mexican-American to be appointed a US Poet Laureate. You may be wondering what a US Poet Laureate does. No, they don’t arrest people for bad poetry (unfortunately), but raise awareness about the art form as well as important issues facing our nation and the world.

Herrera puts special attention on the issues of immigration and bullying, helping people understand the complexities of the problems and bringing to light positive change. During this talk, he will share some of his seminal work, as well as answer questions.
