Quiet Lightning and the California State Parks present Poetry in Parks 2017, a day-long arts festival at Candlestick Point.
San Francisco Poet Laureate Kim Shuck kicks off the day with a poem and a curated series of youth readings, followed by a set of performances organized by local non-profit Vasileia.
2017 Poets in the Parks
- Quiet Lightning’s signature literary mixtape
- Annual Neighborhood Heroes show (TBA soon)
- Interdisciplinary performance by LOAN (Tongo Eisen-Martin + Peck The Town Crier)
- Live music by Classical Revolution
- Live painting
- Interactive art station by ArtSpan
- Children’s activities by Bread & Roses Presents
- Book swap and books for sale
- Delicious local food and drink by D’ Maize Catering, Stirm Wine Co, and House Kombucha, and Jason Bayani spinning records
The first 200 people will receive a book featuring all of the selected writing and cover art by Anah Louise Redding. All authors will be paid and will read/perform as a literary mixtape, with no introductions or banter.
