Event Details

Local historian Ross Eric Gibson and film archivist James Mockoski discuss their journey to uncover and restore a landmark Bay Area women’s suffrage film made in 1917.

Three years before women gained the right to vote, Mothers of Men depicted the first woman to be elected governor in the United States. A century later, Gibson and Mockoski reveal this unique cinematic time capsule, showing the Bay Area lending its voice to an important cause.
