In Presidio Live, experience live music, theatre, dance, film, and dialogues that offer a contemporary take on the history and nature of the Presidio and the culture of our diverse Bay Area community.

Experience this full-length documentary film about San Francisco’s beloved seaside amusement park, Playland at the Beach. Torn down in 1972 to make way for a condominium development at Ocean Beach, Playland remains one of the city’s lost treasures, still warmly remembered after being gone for more than four decades.

Written and directed by Tom Wyrsch, the film combines rare photos and film footage, capturing the park’s greatest attractions from the Big Dipper to Laffing Sal, with interviews of those who were there. The screening will be followed by a talk with the film’s co-producer, Strephon Taylor.
