The obnoxiously persistent genre called punk has gone through more changes than Miley Cyrus. If you look back to those rollicking days of 1977, you might not recognize the style in 2015. This is even true for individual groups, like Ceremony. Their early work may exhibit the angsty, thrash-laden aggression of early punk, but their latest outing sees a different band. The L-Shaped Man is rife with soul-questioning lyrics and thoughtful, almost Morrissey-style, drives.
They’re a band that’s come into their own, and offers up a sound anyone can enjoy. See them on display at the Great American Music Hall.
