Whenever You’re Ready, a darkly funny exploration of loneliness, avoidance, and the pressure to reinvent yourself, comes to San Francisco December 18–20.
San Francisco native playwright and performer Bel Mehaffy returns to her hometown this December with Whenever You’re Ready, an original one-woman show presented as part of PlayGround’s Twisted Holiday Festival at Potrero Stage.
Set in an unnamed waiting room on New Year’s Day, the play follows a young woman whose increasingly absurd stories and interruptions reveal her fears about family, loneliness, bad decisions, and the possibility of change.
Blending intimate confession with offbeat comedy, Whenever You’re Ready explores the strange contradiction of desperately wanting life to change while being terrified of what change might require.
The performances take place December 18, 19, and 20, 2026, at Potrero Stage in San Francisco. Admission is free.
