This is a two-part event celebrating the Buffalo Soldier in the Philippine American War.

NOON – 2 PM:

A musical celebration highlighting the introduction of jazz music by Buffalo Soldiers during the Philippine American War. Sponsored by the African American Center, the Filipino American Center and the San Francisco Filipino American Jazz Festival.

2 PM – 4 PM:

A panel discussion on the Buffalo Soldiers in the Philippine American War and Filipinos who immigrated as a result of that war.  The program will feature author Vangie Buell, descendant of a Buffalo Solder and a speaker with the Filipino American National Historical Society, and Abe Ignacio, co-author of Forbidden Book:  The Philippine American War in Political Cartoons.
