Event Details

In the “cold up” to Halloween, four renowned (notorious? nefarious? Take your pick) horror writers will chill you with some short fiction reading and then take your question on any spooky (literary) subject.

The dark auteurs of the free “Real Horror Show” are:

  • John Shirley (screenplay writer of The Crow, Deep Space Nine & Poltergeist, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of short story collection Black Butterflies & novel Bleak History)
  • Ray Garton (author of the Blood and Lace series, winner of the 2006 World Horror Convention Grand Master Award)
  • Chelsea Quinn Yarbro (author of series on the vampire Count Saint-German. In 2005, the International Horror Guild named her a “Living Legend”)
  • Rain Graves (author of The Gossamer Eye, for which she won the 2002 Bram Stoker Award winner for Best Poetry Collection)

This free event is a benefit for Variety Children’s Charity, a non-profit organization serving the needs of children throughout Northern California. They raise funds by offering a bar where you can get drinks throughout the evening.

Following an 1h30 of stories and Q&A, stick around for a free showing of the spooky 1980’s Peter Medak-directed movie “The Changeling” with, of course, free popcorn.

Disclaimer: Please double check event information with the event organizer as events can be canceled, details can change after they are added to our calendar, and errors do occur.
