Join Tiny News Collective for a conversation with the community-centered founders rebuilding and reimagining local news.

From the Ground Up: The Founders Reimagining Local News

You already know one story about local news: outlets shrinking and closing, and chains buying up what remains.

But across the country, and here in San Francisco, a different story is being written. Founders are building small, independent newsrooms in the places they live, accountable to their neighbors. A form of community infrastructure, built on trust: tiny news.

Join us for a panel with Tiny News Collective executive director Amy Kovac-Ashley, COYOTE Media Collective co-founder Soleil Ho, News Relay Network co-founder Daphne Magnawa, and News Futures lead steward Darryl Holliday. They’ll discuss new research on what it takes for tiny newsrooms to launch and last, and why these types of newsrooms are critical for the future of journalism and democracy.
