Event Details

Check out the new art exhibition, Reimagining Progress: Production, Consumption, and Alternative Economies at the David Brower Center in Berkeley during its free opening reception on Thursday, May 22, 2014.

The third juried show at the Center features the work of 18 Bay Area-based artists powerfully critiquing our unsustainable status quo, exploring our society’s relationship to production, consumption, and waste while proposing alternatives that balance valuing people and planet with financial profit.

The reception will feature the debut of excerpts from Sara Kraft’s FAIR// SHARE// FARE, her newest performance exploring the experiences of Bay Area rideshare drivers and users and several aspects of the cultural, historical, socio-economic zeitgeist represented by the rideshare industry. The piece features her signature style of “dueling narratives,” juxtaposing layers of live looping, text and video to illuminate multiple stories and viewpoints. With a knack for illuminating complex conceptual themes through intimate lenses, Kraft transports audiences with funny, heartbreaking, and provocative meditations on the human condition.
