Event Details

The Dopper Foundation has made a 14 foot wave of 6,000 single-use plastic bottles – the amount we throw away in the US every four seconds –  and they invite you to ride the wave and speak out against plastic waste on World Water Day, March 22, 2013 at the UN Plaza fountain.

They’ll capture your surf moves for you to share and you’ll be the star of their new sustainable lifestyle short film. This free event is presented by Dopper Foundation, passionate about reducing single-use plastic waste and supporting clean water access projects in Nepal.

Here’s what to expect on March 22, 2013:

  • A wave made of 6,000 single-use plastic bottles
  • Surfboard attached to the bottom of the wave; frame welded by noted international sculptor Marco Cochrane
  • Visitors are invited to ‘ride’ the plastic wave by posing on the surfboard while their picture is taken
  • All pictures turn into a stop motion video that will be released the same evening
