Event Details

San Francisco Opera’s “Bohème Out of the Box” is coming to City Center Bishop Ranch on May 1, bringing Puccini’s beloved “La Bohème“ from the stage to the heart of San Ramon.

This free, one-hour production starring guest artists and San Francisco Opera’s Adler Fellows takes place from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Set on a mobile opera stage, the performance reimagines a timeless story of love, loss and passion through soaring arias and sweeping romance, providing a unique, up-close experience. Sung in Italian with live English translations accessible via smartphone, it offers a fresh and engaging way to experience this iconic work.

Families with young children can arrive early for a First Act Workshop at 12 p.m., where kids can explore the story, move to the music and bring a favorite stuffed animal to dance along to Musetta’s Waltz. Perfect for a midday escape, audiences can relax on the shaded lawn or grab a seat in Alexander Square (outside chairs not permitted).
