It’s almost spring and our Bay Area hills, canyons, and meadows are coming alive with the delightful colors of wildflowers. But there’s more to our native flowers than meets the eye.

Join us for a talk and slide presentation exploring some lesser-known aspects of the flowers we encounter on Greenbelt Alliance outings. We’ll describe how the flowers came to be named, ways pioneers and Native Americans used blooming plants, the hidden life of pollinators, and the adventures (and misadventures) of intrepid 19th-century explorers who hiked the Bay Area in search of botanic discoveries. You may never look at a flower in quite the same way again.
