Event Details

The oldest community orchestra on the West Coast, the San Francisco Civic Symphony, was founded in 1931 by Mrs. Sigmund Stern and Josephine D. Randall, superintendent of the Recreation and Park Department. We continue Mrs. Stern’s legacy of providing classical music in a welcoming environment for musicians of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Our members are working or retired professionals whose passion is music. We exist as a volunteer ensemble to provide committed amateur musicians in the community an opportunity to study and perform a diverse repertoire of classical music. From this collaboration we offer our audiences opportunities to discover meaningful interpretations of classical music in an affordable personal setting.

SFCS concerts are always free—no tickets or reservations required.
