SF History Night | Pacific Heights

On October 17, 1989, as many people were getting ready to watch the World Series known as the Battle of the Bay, the Loma Prieta earthquake rocked the San Francisco Bay Area. The quake registered 6.9 on the Richter scale, the largest seismic event to hit the Bay Area since 1906.
Thirty years on, a panel of first responders will talk about their response to the disaster, from rescuing people trapped in the rubble to helping keep order and calm in the confusion of the aftermath. Their gripping stories will be presented along with historic photographs. We invite members to share their stories at this event.
