Event Details

The San Francisco Mixtape Society is a quarterly event dedicated to the delicate art of the mixtape. Everyone and every medium is welcomed (CDs, cassettes, USB, etc…). The mixes are traded over the course of the evening through a spirited raffle.  Think of it like a secret santa event, but with music mixes

The best mixtapes, as selected by the audience and by judges according to artwork, originality and theme, win prizes. The Mixtape Society is free to attend and open to the public.

Theme: Cities vs. Towns
Location: Make-Out Room (The Mission) – 3225 22nd St btw Mission and Bartlett, SF. Tel – (415) 647-2888
Time: Sun. Jan. 31, 2010. 4-6 pm. Swap begins at 4:30 pm sharp
Cost: No cover*
*Mixtape not required for admission, but you can only take home someone else’s mixtape if you bring a mixtape of your own.

Mixes will be traded over the course of the evening through a raffle, hosted by music supervisor Annie Lin and art director John Verrochi. All attendees who bring a music mix will leave the event with a mix made by someone else. Additionally, all attendees and a panel of judges will be able to cast votes for the mixes with the best track listings and artwork. The makers of the winning mixes will receive sponsored prize packages valued at up to $50.

During the event, DJ Diego Baptista will spin an eclectic set of music against the backdrop of a video art installation featuring works from Bay Area artists. The video art installation will be curated by designer Emie Lee (By Emie) and photographer Jen Giese (Photojojo).
