Join us for a free concert on November 17th, 2021 featuring Bomani X, Austin Dean Ashford, & Merle Badges at Golden Gate Parks Music Concourse Bandshell. This Singer Songwriter showcase takes place every Wednesday from 4pm-7pm.
This weeks showcase is presented by Value Culture, 501c3 in association with Illuminate, and the San Francisco Parks Alliance.
Bomani X is first and foremost an artist. He is a Black guitarist, singer songwriter, and celebrity digital strategist who has worked with Jill Scott, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Wyclef, and more. Once the face of the Clubhouse app, and is the creator of the popular Cotton Club program on the app.
Austin Dean Ashford is a storyteller, motivator, and educator originally from the San Francisco Bay Area of California. During his time at James Logan High School, Mr. Ashford fine-tuned his gift for speech, poetry, acting and debate under the direction of Dr. Tommie Lindsey, Jr., a MacArthur Genius award recipient. Received a dual-MFA in Acting and Play-writing at the University of Arkansas, graduating with the class of 2019. During that time, his work was shared and received top honors at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in DC, the United Solo Festival in New York City, the San Diego International Fringe Festival, and the Dunedin and New Zealand Fringe Festivals, as well as being a OneBeat Colombia Fellow.

These free, all-ages concerts will run through the end of 2021, with Singer-Songwriter Wednesdays, Jazz and Soul Fridays, Cultural and Community groups on Saturdays, and Reggae Sundays, as well as many special events. View the full event calendar here!
The lineup of performers returning to the stage is diverse and local—rock and reggae bands, jazz players and R&B singers, West African and South Asian drummers and dancers, as well as homegrown stars like DJ Shortkut and Lavay Smith and her Red Hot Skillet Lickers.
The events will strictly follow all current guidelines and recommendations from the Department of Public Health and will adapt accordingly as guidelines change. Mask wearing is required for those who are not vaccinated and strongly encouraged for everyone.
