Debuting conductor Chloé Van Soeterstède leads a Romantic program rich in warmth and color. Elfrida Andrée’s Overture in D major reveals a pioneering Swedish musical voice, while Max Bruch’s First Violin Concerto intersperses Hungarian-spiced licks with plenty of crowd-pleasing passagework.

The program concludes with Felix Mendelssohn’s Reformation Symphony, filled with echoes of J.S. Bach and Lutheran chorale melodies.
