Event Details

You’re invited to join Urban Putt‘s first open house, on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 6 pm. Urban Putt is an indoor mini-golf course in the works for San Francisco.

They are excited to show off what they’re working on and offer the chance to see the space in its “before” state (construction hasn’t started yet, as they await city permits). UP’s architect, Matt Hollis, will be on hand, as will mini-golf hole designers Anne Mayoral and Chris Myers. Snacks and beverages will be provided (probably free, but bring a few bucks, just in case).

Here is what to expect when Urban Putt is completed:

As you play through, buildings sway and collapse, and fires rage (or at least a minigolf approximation of same). You putt your way past the Lotta Fountain (where residents congregated during the ’06 conflagration), then wend your way to the cup–a replica of the “Golden Fire Hydrant” (at 20th St. and Church) that’s credited with saving San Francisco. And when you’re done, the structures miraculously rise up and reconstitute themselves, demonstrating the resilience we’ve come to expect from our fair city.
