SF’s 2026 Nihonmachi Street Fair in Japantown (August 1-2)

Free two-day festival brings Japanese American and AAPI culture, food, live performances, artisans, and family activities to San Francisco’s Japantown

One of San Francisco’s longtime summer traditions returns as the 52nd Annual Nihonmachi Street Fair takes over Japantown on August 1-2, 2026.

Since 1974, this free community festival has brought together Japanese American, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities for a weekend celebrating culture, connection, and community. Expect two days of food, live entertainment, cultural arts, family activities, local artisans, and more.

52nd Annual Nihonmachi Street Fair
Saturday & Sunday, August 1-2, 2026
Japantown, San Francisco (Post Street between Laguna and Fillmore Streets and along Osaka Way)
FREE Admission

The festival transforms Japantown into a celebration of AAPI culture with multiple areas to explore:

Food Fest

Taste your way through the festival with a lineup of local AAPI flavors from small businesses. Discover Japanese and Asian-inspired dishes, street food, snacks, and treats throughout the weekend.

Art & Soul of Jtown

Explore cultural arts and take part in activities celebrating the creativity, traditions, and history of the Japantown community.

Asian Artisans

Browse a marketplace featuring AAPI artisans and makers showcasing unique handmade goods, crafts, and creations.

Beer Fest

Raise a reusable branded cup and enjoy Beer Fest while celebrating responsibly.

Children’s World

Kids of all ages can enjoy cultural activities, games, crafts, and family-friendly fun at Children’s World, a dedicated space where young visitors can create, play, and experience the festival.

Doggie World

Four-legged friends are welcome at the Nihonmachi Street Fair! Doggie World returns in a smaller format this year as a gathering place for community members and their pups.

Note: The Doggie World Pageant will take a break in 2026.

Live Performances

Enjoy live entertainment across two stages throughout the weekend:

Summer of Love Stage
Our Community Our Pride Stage

The lineup will feature local artists, musicians, dancers, and traditional cultural groups showcasing the diversity of AAPI communities.
