The Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) presents the 7th Annual Chinatown Halloween Neighborhood Festival taking place on Saturday, October 30 from 11am to 3pm. The festival will be located in Chinatown on Waverly Place between Sacramento and Washington and inside the Willie “Woo Woo” Wong Playground clubhouse.
The family-friendly event will host an afternoon of entertainment starting with lion dancers from Sifu Norman Lau’s Lion Dance Me group. Children of all ages will be able to enjoy Halloween themed arts and crafts activities and games. Local artist, Marina Wang, will lead a live painting class, while Evangeline McCarthy, another local artist, will be twisting balloons on the spot. Families will be able to take pictures at the photo booth and at the pumpkin patch. Children will be able to take the pumpkins home from the patch to decorate them in the spirit of the holiday. New to the festival this year will be a “Creature Crawl” obstacle course. Over 40 Chinatown merchants will be offering special discounts for the weekend to encourage attendees to support local businesses. A list of participating merchants can be found on the event website.
